Today I have news of a seriously cool product pairing which appeals to both the makeup and the technology aficionado in me: the Diorskin Airflash CC Primer and the Diorskin Airflash Matte Touch.

Joining Dior’s iconic Airflash Spray Foundation in a sort of flawless base trilogy, the CC Primer and the Matte Touch create an ideal start and the finale to your foundation routine. Each one is presented in a pressurised spray format, which allows you to spritz a smooth, fine layer of primer, foundation and setting powder on to the skin for an ‘airbrushed’ finish. It sounds wonderful in theory, but how would it stack up to the most formidable of tasks, AKA my morning routine?

Diorskin Airflash CC Primer

Dior Airflash CC Primer

The Diorskin Airflash CC Primer is a really special product, and not just because it’s the first of its kind. The formula is packed with minerals and hydrating ingredients that prep the skin with moisture, yet it feels entirely weightless on the skin. The ultra-fine mist settles in a network of tiny hydrating droplets and can be applied as quick as a flash for those times when you really need to prep and go. And, as all primers should, it boosts the longevity of your foundation really well.

I sprayed the CC Primer really close to the skin here so that you can get a feel for the milky consistency (though I wouldn’t recommend trying that at home – stick to around 10ins away!) Though the primer is very lightweight it does manage to give your skin a decent shot of moisture, and that’s thanks to an infusion of moisture conserving hyaluronic acid.

The colour is absolutely imperceptible when used at the stated distance, with no hint of a white cast. I found that it did tone down the red patches on my skin, and did a pretty good job of blurring the dark smudges beneath my eyes. What I truly loved, however, was the brilliant luminosity that it gave my complexion. I struggle with dull skin at this time of year, as many of you guys probably do, too, and I need all the help I can get to boost my glow. Dior suggests using the CC Primer alone to refresh tired skin when you don’t want to use foundation, and I think that I will be doing just that.

Bottom line: All in all, it’s a lovely pre-foundation treat for when your skin really isn’t pulling its weight. Shop Dior Airflash CC Primer.

Diorskin Airflash Foundation

Dior Airflash Spray Foundation

This year Dior’s beloved Diorskin Airflash Foundation had a bit of a revamp, with five new shades and an omission of parabens from its formula. Born backstage and inspired by the techniques used on models to produce that trademark flawless finish with a ‘retouched’ effect, its pairing of a fresh, ultra fine mist with velvety, medium coverage finish is pretty legendary. I couldn’t wait to put it to the test.

At first, the foundation took a little bit of getting used to. Then again I’m the sort of girl who usually forgoes a foundation brush in favour of a quick application with fingers – so this is a big step up! It’s important to tie your hair back and tuck something into your top to make sure that they remain out of the way. Then, holding the can around 10ins away, spritz from the centre of your face outwards in short, sharp bursts. Work the formula into the nooks and crannies around your nose and eyes with a foundation brush, and you’re done. I normally finish up with a quick buff all over the skin to catch any bits that I’ve missed, but it’s not always needed.

My favourite part aspect of Airflash is how utterly synergistic it is. The particles of the foundation are so tiny that they mesh over the skin in a lightweight film, which feels so comfortable and very touchably soft. I’m so pleased with the coverage, too. It makes my overall tone more uniform without completely camouflaging my freckles, and gives my skin a really polished, glowy look in 10 seconds flat.

Bottom line: Don’t make the mistake of writing this off as a novelty product. If you’re looking for a really quick, perfect base (and let’s face it, who isn’t), then this is a must try. Shop the Dior Airflash Spray Foundation.

And finally we have the Airflash Matte Touch Long-Lasting Airy Powder. Now, this is a really rather clever product. You can see the backstage influence most clearly with this one, as it’s designed to set, even and mattify the complexion in one really quick spritz without disturbing the makeup underneath. Its blend of micronised nylon-6 and kaolin clay particles are misted onto the face in a very fine, oil-absorbing powder that blurs pores and manages to make skin look and feel very velvety indeed.

I apply this in a few quick spritzes down the centre of my face, as I tend to have quite an oily T-zone. Matte Touch comes in one universal shade, a sort of peachy beige, but it’s not too noticeable so it should be flattering on most skin tones. I’d recommend using this before putting on your mascara as it tends add a powdery cast to my lashes, although I did discover a very cool tip from doing so: the powder really bulks up your lashes before adding a second coat of mascara! In that respect, it’s working out to be an utterly wonderful desk-to-bar makeup essential.

Bottom line: I’m going to go out and say it – this innovative spray is like Photoshop in a can. Shop Dior Airflash Matte Touch.
