Daniel Sandler Luxury Lipstick in Marilyn and Gigi Swatches

If you’re looking for a bold new shade to take you into the warmer months, look no further. The Daniel Sandler Luxury Matte Lipsticks are ultra pigmented, ultra moisturising, and so very pampering on the lips – an almost impossible feat for a pair of matte colours.
I’ve been a big fan of the original Daniel Sandler Luxury Lipstick for a couple of years now. Daniel very kindly gifted me a pre-release sample of the shade Impulse a year or so ago, a gorgeous pink/red that suits my skin colouring down to the ground. To this day it’s still one of two go-to red lipsticks, and not just because of the gorgeous colour. The formula of the lipstick a dream. It’s as luxurious as you’d expect with its combination of butters and oils, but it also has a long-lasting, satiny finish that strikes a perfect balance of comfort and longevity.
This newer Matte collection has the same heavyweight packaging and buttery soft ingredients, but has a fuller, more pigmented finish. With more emphasis upon coverage than shine, it produces a pretty powerful lip look.
Here we have the shades Marilyn, an almost neon orange-red, and Gigi, a cool magenta pink:
These shades are right up my street. Bold, almost-neon, tropical hues that carry a look with minimum effort needed from the rest of my make-up. When I want a really punchy bit of colour, I always reach for a Daniel Sandler or a Rouge Dior Lipstick (my other favourite red is Zinnia Red, a Rouge Dior colour!).
Even though they’re matte, they’re not flat. In fact, you can see a small amount of shine from the freshly swatched Gigi at the top there – though this does dry down a little to a finish more akin to Marilyn on the left.
I do love a lipstick that does all of the hard work for you. There’s no heavy handed application with these to get the full pigment punch; in fact, just a couple of dabs straight from the bullet and a sweep with a lip brush sets me up very nicely. Lately, I’ve taken to applying a small amount of Gigi with my finger with balm both as a base and a sort of ‘top coat’ for a petal pink pout. It’s very pretty. That’s the beauty of ultra-pigmented formulas; they can be several lip products in one, depending upon how you use them!
