Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector - New Shades and Swatches

The Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector is a timeless lip product. Immensely popular in the beauty blogosphere and with our customers (see their reviews on our product page), it’s one of those make-up bag warhorses that you never really tire of.

Best described as a tinted lip gel/gloss hybrid, the Natural Lip Perfector is the lip contingent of Clarins’ Instant Light range. The core collection of primers and smoothers create a perfected look with a radiant twist, sort of like that oft-used phase ‘ it’s your skin, only better’. Enhanced with shea butter and mango to intensely soften and 3D radiance pigments to optimally minimise imperfections, the Lip Perfector is such a gorgeous little product.

Sound good so far? Well, it’s about to get a whole lot better, because Clarins have introduced three brand new shades for summer: 04 Petal Shimmer, 05 Candy Shimmer and 06 Rosewood Shimmer…

Packaged in colour-coded, squeezy 12ml tubes with a fabric applicator and a screw top lid, the Lip Perfector is designed for portability I really, really love the fact that it’s squeezy; it means that I can roll it up and eke out the last bit of product when I’m running low. It almost makes up for the fact that the packaging is opaque, as the pliability of the plastic allows you to feel how much product is left instead.

Another love of mine is the ultra plush applicator. It feels like velvet on the lips and makes application really smooth and even. The slight absorbency of the material makes it pretty difficult to put too much of this on (which is often the case with plastic counterparts).

I’ve really heavily swatched the colours here to give you an idea of the colour and potential opacity. They appear really glossy here, but when they’re applied less liberally, they are a lot softer.

And here’s what they look like in macro – gorgeous, aren’t they? 04 Petal Shimmer is a pale, almost milky pink with pink and silver micro shimmer; 05 Candy Shimmer is a sweetcandy pink with pink micro shimmer; 06 Rosewood Shimmer is a warm rose brown with pink and gold micro shimmer.

When they’re blended out the shimmer is less apparent, but you can still see its light reflective qualities. 04 Petal Shimmer delivers quite a sheer wash of pale colour; 05 Candy Shimmer is the most pigmented, a pop of bright pink that is so nice for the summer; and 06 Rosewood Shimmer becomes slightly rosier when smoothed out.

Bottom line:

The Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfectors are such an easy way to wear colour – they create the ultimate ‘polished’ lip look.
