The party season is almost here, and it’s time to start planning for your Christmas party looks. I think that at Christmas it’s the time of year when you can have a lot of fun with colour, and embrace the sparkle and a red lip. It’s always fun to look your best and glam up, and this look should take about half an hour and leave you looking glamorous.
The Base
If you want your makeup to stay in place all night long then a primer is an essential. For a party look, it’s nice to have your skin looking diffused and illuminated so I love the Laura Geller Spackle Tinted Makeup Primer in Champagne because it adds lot of light to the skin. Over the top of the primer, I used the Shiseido Perfect Refining Foundation, which works so well to give a soft and flawless finish to the skin.
For under the eyes, I used the Clarins Instant Light Brush On Perfector blended in with a damp Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge. The sponge really helps to blend in the concealer and prevent it from any creasing. To lock in the base and make sure that it stays looking the same all night, the Vichy Dermablend Setting Powder is incredible because it keeps skin matte without looking powdery.
For the cheeks, I used a little bit of the Guerlain Terracotta Bronzer and then for a hint of colour on the cheeks, I used the Daniel Sandler Watercolour Crème Rouge Blush, which is incredibly easy to apply by just patting it onto the cheeks.
The Eyes & Lips
For the eyes, I wanted them to be bright and shimmery. To prime I used the Clarins Ombre Matte Eyeshadow in 02 Nude Pink, which helps to prolong the shadow and for the colour to go on more smoothly. On top of that, I used the Guerlain Ecrin 1 Couleur Long Lasting Eyeshadow in Copperfield, which is such a rich colour that manages to really add some sheen to the eyes. To add some further definition, I used the Clarins Essentials Eye Makeup Palette and used a mix of the lighter shimmery shades and the deeper matte ones to finish off the eye look.
To add some more drama to the eyes, the Givenchy Liner Couture Precision Felt-Tip Eyeliner is perfect for drawing a line, especially if your hands can sometimes be shaky like mine. For this particular look I wanted to make sure that my eyes looked a bit more feline and elongated, so the liner really helps to shape your eyes. On my lower waterline I used the Elizabeth Arden Smoky Eyes Pencil to intensify the look. On the lashes I used the Clarins Be Long Mascara as a base before applying some false lashes.
For the finishing touches… we used a beautiful red lipstick. The Elizabeth Arden Beautiful Color Moisturizing Lipstick in 02 Red Door Red is a gorgeous pink-toned red that perfectly complements the gold shades used on the eyes. For a perfectly precise finish I’d recommend using a lip liner – I love the Daniel Sandler Lip Brush because it makes it so easy and precise.
