Binky's Marsala Colour of the Year Look
Share
London Fashion Week has left me feeling inspired – one of my favourite trends from the AW15 catwalks was the colour Marsala. Worldwide colour experts Pantone declared Marsala as 2015’s Colour of the Year – the deep rusty red, burgundy-wine hue was spotted on the Victoria Beckham, Alberta Ferretti and Zac Posen catwalks (to name but a few!).
Beyonce, Kylie Jenner and Cheryl Fernandez-Versini are just a few of the celebs who have been rocking Marsala-inspired beauty looks, so I thought it was about time I created one of my own. It’s a tad on the dramatic side, but this look oozes vampiness and glamour – here’s how I did it.
Base
A flawless complexion is a prerequisite for a striking beauty look like this, so I used Givenchy Photo’Perfexion Foundation to even out my skin tone and disguise blemishes. The lightweight, creamy formula gives the skin a HD-finish, airbrush effect for a catwalk complexion with no cakiness.
I next moved on to sculpting my face with the Too Faced Bronzed and Poreless bronzer, brushing it just under my cheekbones, along my jawline and across my temples for a chiselled finish.
Eyes
To create my dramatic Marsala eyes, I began by sweeping the top left shade from the Clarins 4 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palette in 03 Rosewood over my entire eyelid to act as a base.
Highly pigmented loose shadows work wonders when creating a vivid eye look. I used Too Faced Glamour Dust Glitter Pigment in the rusty wine shade Glampire to vamp up my eyes, packing the colour onto my lids with a fluffy brush. Focus the colour on the outer corners of the eyes, applying several layers for maximum impact.
Next, going back to the Clarins palette, I used the more plum-toned bottom left shade to define my socket line, adding a seductive depth to the eyes. I also gently brushed some of the same shade along my lower lash line to create further definition.
To really make the eyes pop, I then ran some Daniel Sandler Waterproof Eyeliner in Black Velvet along my upper and lower lash lines, followed by generous coatings of Guerlain Maxi Lash Mascara.
Lips
I kept things simple on the lips with a sweep of Clarins Rouge Eclat Lipstick in True Aubergine – a perfect Kylie Jenner-esque rusty red shade to mirror my Marsala eyes.
So there you have it – a high-fashion style beauty look that’s sure to turn heads at any party. I’m going to pair the look with an LBD and some killer heels!
Stay glam,
Binky xxx
