Binky's Guide To Making Green Eyes Pop

binkys purple eyes makeup guide

Hello beauty lovers, hope you’re all well. I’ve been such a busy bee this week, flitting from meeting to photo shoot to party without a minute to spare in between.

Nevertheless, as a beauty buff, I always like to try out new make-up looks even when I’m on the go. This week I came up with this gorgeous purple eyeshadow look, taking influence from the models’ bold washes of eyeshadow on the Jason Wu and Roksanda Ilincic AW13 catwalk shows. I chose purple as it’s the perfect colour to emphasise green eyes like mine, and the great thing about this look is that it’s not only right on-trend but really quick and easy to do. Here’s how I did it!

Step 1 – Build The Base

The main product I used to create this look was the Clarins Eye Quartet Mineral Palette in Violet. This fab palette contains 4 purple/plum-toned shades that complement each other perfectly. To start, I applied the lightest shade of purple eyeshadow all over the lid and up to the brow bone with a fluffy brush.

Step 2 – Pack On The Purple

Next, using a slightly smaller angled brush, I took a mid purple colour from the Clarins palette and brushed it over the lid, working up from the lash line to the socket line. Focus the colour on the outer corner of the eye and wing it out a little bit to make eyes appear wider. Blend the 2 colours together using a clean fluffy brush, gradiating the colour upwards.

I then took the darkest shade of purple from the eyeshadow palette and applied it just above the upper lash line, blending upwards. Don’t be afraid to really pack on the product, as you’re looking to create a dense wash of colour.

Step 3 – Line and Define

To add some definition to my eyes, I took Daniel Sandler Waterproof Eyeliner and applied it to my upper and lower water lines. I followed this up by applying Daniel Sandler’s Jumbo Jet Mascara, fanning my eyelashes out with the brush to fully coat each lash.

Step 4 – Lush Lips

This look is all about bringing out the green in my eyes, so I thought a nude lip would work best. I applied Clarins Rouge Eclat Lipstick in Nude Caramel to my lips straight from the bullet – this lipstick has a gorgeous, soft creamy texture and provides a nice sheen. It added some neutral colour to my lips without drawing attention away from my purple peepers!

So there you have it – a quick and easy look to make green eyes really stand out. This would also work on brown-eyed gals, while if you’re a blue-eyed ice queen, try a silver eyeshadow wash for a similar eye-popping effect.

That’s all for now, see you next time!
