It’s the spookiest night of the year tonight; the time when ghosts and ghouls roam the earth, and all sorts of magical mayhem happens. It’s also the moment when us make-up addicts are allowed to let loose our artistic skills and get really creative.

Now I know some people enjoy going all out with the fake blood and gore, but I prefer my Halloween make-up to have a little girlish appeal. So this week I’ve come up with a Pretty Kitty face – I reckon it’s the perfect mix of spooky and sexy, and the good thing about this look is that it will work for any fancy-dress occasion, so it’s a handy idea to have in your beauty arsenal.

Flattering, quick and easy – this make-up is wonderfully simple to do, so if you’re still hunting down a last-minute idea for tonight, look no further…

The Kit

Daniel Sandler Mineral Shadow
Clarins Waterproof Eyeliner Pencil in Black
Daniel Sandler Long Lasting Waterproof Eyeliner in Black Velvet
Haute Couture False Eyelashes
Clarins Instant Definition Mascara
Clarins Rouge Eclat Lipstick in Petal Pink
Daniel Sandler Super Gloss in Pomegranate

Step 1

Once you’ve applied your base, creating an even complexion with foundation and a dusting of powder, it’s straight on to the eyes. Blend Daniel Sandler Mineral Shadow in Opal all over the lid and up to the socket line. This creates a sheer, sparkly base colour and makes a bold contrast to the dark eyeliner.

Step 2

Using the Clarins Waterproof Eyeliner Pencil in Black, draw a cat’s-eye flick along your upper lash line. The best way to do this is to start at the outer edge, using the outer point of your brows as a guide. Draw the flick first, then work your way back along the lash line, towards the inner corner. Don’t worry if you make any mistakes – just tidy up with a cotton bud and carry on.

Step 3

Use the same eye pencil to create a sharp point at the inner corner of your eye, mirroring the outer flick. Then draw the liner all the way along your lower lash line and inside the water line.

Step 4

Now take a damp eye make-up brush and blend more of the pale Daniel Sandler eyeshadow across the lid and along the lower lash line, to intensify the pale sparkle next to the sexy black cat’s eye. Using a wet brush is a clever trick to make any eye colour look more dense, which gives your look more impact.

Step 5

Next brush several coats of Clarins Instant Definition Mascara onto both upper and lower lashes, concentrating on the lashes at the outer edge to emphasise the cat’s eye effect.

Step 6

Time to apply your false lashes. Simply squeeze a little lash glue onto the back of your hand, dip in a cotton bud and run the bud along the lash edge. Let the glue dry for a couple of seconds until it’s slightly tacky, then, holding the lashes with tweezers, press the centre point of the lashes to the centre of your upper lash line, and press down from side to side. It’s a tricky process but well worth it when you get it right. Practise, of course, makes perfect.

Step 7

I’ve used a different eyeliner pencil – the Daniel Sandler Long Lasting Waterproof Eyeliner in Black Velvet – to draw on my cat’s nose and whiskers. Start by filling in a soft black triangle on the tip of your nose, then draw three whiskers across each cheek.

Step 8

You could finish up with classic red lips, but I’ve decided on a soft pink lip colour to add to the kittenish feel. Apply a slick of lip colour, followed by a dab of gloss, and you’re done!

Happy Halloween guys!
