Binky's Big Night Out - Get The Look Featuring Daniel Sandler
Share
It’s only natural when you’ve got a big event to go to you want to look your best, and I used to plan my beauty look meticulously weeks ahead of a big party. But last week I was caught with just a day’s notice when I was invited to appear on The Jonathan Ross Show. One of the biggest chat-show hosts in the world and I had very little to time to get ready.
So I called in some help from a top professional make-up artist – Daniel Sandler. Daniel has been in the business for 25 years – he has worked with Tom Ford for Gucci catwalk shows and now has a hugely successful range of amazing cosmetics.
He took me out of my comfort zone and created an amazing look for me, complete with golden eyes and a striking orange lip that really transformed my face for my big night out. Here’s how he did it:
How To Do Glam Evening Makeup With Binky And Daniel Sandler
Step 1 – Foundation
After applying the Daniel Sandler Retexturizing Face Primer all over the face to prep, we got straight onto the foundation. We used the Daniel Sandler Catwalk Compact in Shade 7 which was a perfect match to my skin tone. Apply the foundation from the centre of the face outwards, and then blend up and out towards the hairline.
Step 2 – The Cheeks
Apply a long lasting wash of colour on cheeks to bring a shower-fresh glow to your complexion. We used Daniel Sandler Watercolour Fluid Blusher in shade Gentle onto the apples of cheeks. Then sweep a matte contour shade under cheekbones to create a sculpted-effect. The Daniel Sandler Sculpt and Slim Compact is amazing and gives me killer cheekbones.
Step 3 – The Eyes
Apply the metallic gold colour from the Daniel Sandler Eye Shadow Quad in Beyond Sunset (it’s the top right shade) all over the lid from the lash line up to the top of the socket. Next blend in the chocolate colour (top left) into the socket and lower lash line, then use the dark grey (bottom right) on the outer corner of the eye and blend it over evenly with an eye-shadow brush. Next apply the camel coloured shadow (bottom right) to the inner eye corner right and blend towards the inner brow area. Daniel was using one of his – Daniel Sandler Blending Eye Shadow brush. If you’ve got green eyes like me this gold palette will really make them pop.
Follow the line of the eyelash with Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eyeliner, you’ll need a steady hand but it’s easier than liquid liner. Take the pencil in close to the upper and lower lash line.
Step 4 – Eyebrows
With an angled brow brush apply some of the camel colour eye shadow to the brow just to make them extra bushy – for that full-on Cara Delevingne look.
Step 5 – Eyelashes
It’s time for some falsies – we used Get Lashed and applied a small amount of glue to the base before waiting for them to get tacky. When it was almost dry, we applied the lashes with tweezers to hold in place and positioned them right on the root of the upper lash line.
Wait a short while to make sure they’re secure and then apply Clarins Wonder Volume Mascara to the bottom lashes first. (This is because if you tend to look up when you do your bottom set, and if you’ve already done your top set it could leave you with mascara residue on your perfectly done eye-shadow).
Step 6 – Lips
Put on your lipstick with a tapered brush to get the perfect shape. We used a Daniel Sandler Lip Brush – because it’s got such a fine tapered end you get a really precise and sharp finish. The colour that Daniel chose is a bit of a departure for me – the bright orange Daniel Sandler Luxury Matte Lipstick in Marilyn.
Step 7 – Powder
Put on some sculpting powder to add extra definition and drama to the face. We used Daniel Sandler Radiant Sheen Illuminating Face Powder on the highest part of the cheekbone and across the brow to highlight under the eyebrows.
Step 8 – Bronzer
It’s important to get the look working right the way past the jawline and down the neck to the décolleté. So dust down your neck, shoulders, arms and chest with Daniel Sandler Billion Dollar Body Shimmer. This comes with a black velvet powder puff – use it to buff and blend at the same time with circular movements.
I was thrilled with the results and felt so confident when I went to the studio knowing I looked my best and feeling like I could take on anything, even Jonathan Ross. Thanks Daniel!
