Binky Felstead's Beauty Guest Post.. Blue Is the Colour

Welcome to my Beauty Blog! If there’s one thing we Chelsea girls know, it’s how to pamper ourselves – we all love experimenting with great cosmetics and trying out new beauty ideas. I absolutely adore luxury beauty brands and have shopped at Escentual.com from day one – I get so excited when a beautifully packaged new Escentual parcel arrives at my door and can’t wait to indulge myself with my new purchases. So when they asked me to write a blog about my favourite hair and beauty trends I was thrilled. So I’m going to be doing weekly round up of beauty trends from my bedroom in Chelsea, hope you like it.

Let’s face it, if you had to give Chelsea a colour, it would be blue. From blue-blood aristos, to true-blue Tories and the local footy team, Chelsea – aka The Blues. Back in the days of the original Sloane Rangers, blue mascara was a beauty must-have – classic King’s Road kit to go with that velvet hairband, pie-crust collar and pearl necklace. While the other Sloaney trappings may be long forgotten, Chelsea girls are rocking big blue eyes once again – and this time the look is bang on trend.

On new season catwalks, designers delighted in brilliant blue eyes, with Stella McCartney leading the charge: her models sported clean, make-free faces, allowing their spiky electric-blue lashes to grab all the attention. Elsewhere, at Prabal Gurung, make-up artists painted models’ lids a rich metallic sapphire, extending the colour all the way from lashes to brows. But my favourite had to be the vivid cobalt eyes seen at the Anna Sui show. Make-up artist Pat McGrath decorated each model’s lids with a perfect cats-eye flick in a luscious shade of blue. The result was awesome.

The good news is that brilliant blue eye make-up is the dream summer trend as a suntan really makes blue eyes pop. Plus, it’s quick and super-simple to do: a quick dash of liner, a slick of mascara and you’re good to go.

I’ve discovered two beauty products here on Escentual.com which totally nail the look. Guerlain By Emilio Pucci Terracotta Khol Kajal Intense is an easy-to-use eyeliner in a dazzling indigo shade. Use it to line your lids with a cobalt flick, a la Anna Sui, or smooth it across the whole eye – its soft, smudgeable texture makes it brilliantly easy to handle. Finish up with a coat of Guerlain by Emilio Pucci Le 2 De Guerlain – a deep, azure blue mascara that will drench your lashes in colour.

If electric-blue lashes feel too bright for evening eyes, do what I’ve done here and start with a coat of black mascara – I love Clarins Wonder Length Mascara in Wonder Black – then add a couple of coats of blue mascara. The result is a deep navy shade that’s subtle but still striking and a little bit different. It’s a dream of a look. After all, who can resist gazing into beautiful baby blues…
