Binky London Nail Polish

Binky London Nails

Binky's Signature

Hi everyone,

I’ve got some exciting news for you this week – I have launched my very own Binky London Nail Polish! As you already know, I’m a massive lover of everything beauty – from haircare and skincare to makeup and perfume, I adore it all. However, one element of my beauty regime I’ve always particularly enjoyed is painting my nails. You can match your nails to your outfit, the current ‘in’ trend, or even your mood, and with a plethora of shades at your fingertips (quite literally) there is something for everyone.

So naturally, I was thrilled when I was approached about creating my own nail range. I’ve put in a lot of work these past few months, carefully selecting the shades for my collection and of course, giving each one a fabulous name. From cute pastels, chic nudes, smouldering metallics, bold brights, timeless classics and glam glitters, Binky London has all your nails need.

I’ve launched Binky London with 2 collections for Autumn/Winter – Gel Effect Polish and Metallic Polish – which each contain 4 gorgeous shades plus a custom top coat.

But before you reach for the polish, it’s vital you prep your nails and make sure they’re in perfect condition. This will help your nails stay strong and healthy, as well as ensuring a flawless end result.

5 Steps to Fabulous Nails

Step 1 – Clean

First things first, make sure your nails are completely clean – remove any unwanted residue or nail polish using nail varnish remover and a cotton pad.

Step 2 –Shape

Next, shape your nails with a nail file. You can discern the best shape for your nails by examining your cuticles – the shape of the cuticle should mirror that of the nail.File each nail from one direction to the other until you reach your desired shape and length.

Step 3 –Buff

Exfoliate the surface of the nail – as well as the tip – with a gentle buffer. This technique will even out any ridges in the nail, giving youa smooth canvas for your polish.

Step 4 –Cuticles

Then, using a cuticle remover product, push the cuticles back with an orange stick. If you still have excess skin around the cuticle area, carefully remove it with a pair of clippers. Tidy cuticles make all the difference to flawless fingernails!

Step 5 – Polish

Apply a base coat to the nails first – such as my Binky London Base Coat. This helps protect the nail and prolongs the wear of the polish itself. Now for the piece de resistance – the polish! Carefully apply one or two coats of your chosen colour to the nail. Once slightly dry, brush on a layer of top coat. This will enhance the longevity of the polish as well as giving your nails dazzling shine. I highly recommend Guerlain’s Gel Top Coat– it gives a gorgeous high-shine, gel finish for salon-style perfection.

Polish Picks for All Occasions

Once the nails have dried fully, brush a touch of cuticle oil onto your cuticles to moisturize and soothe the area. Et voila: perfectly polished and preened pinkies. Here are some of my top polish picks for any occasion…

Office/Daytime Michael Kors Sporty Nail Lacquer in Hint Nudes, beiges and browns are ideal shades of polish to match office attire; I love this luxurious taupe offering from Michael Kors. The rich, glossy formula provides a high shine finish in two coats, for a smart and polished look.

Big Night Out Binky London Metallic Nail Polish in Grosvenor Gold When you’re looking to go all-out glam, glittery nails are a must, and this glorious gold colour will make sure you turn heads on the dancefloor. If you’re not a big fan of glitter polishes, you can also try a bold block colour such as Michael Kors Sexy Nail Lacquer in Scandal for an equally dazzling Saturday night party look.

Gig Binky London Gel Effect Nail Polish in Beaufort Burgundy The 90s grunge revival trend was all over the AW13 catwalk shows, and with famous fans such as Cara D often seen championing the look, it’s a trend that isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. If you’re frightened of looking more Kurt Cobain than Kate Moss, ease yourself into the trend by sporting this vampy shade on your nails.

Hot Date Guerlain Colour Lacquer in Rouge d’Enfer This colour is sultry, seductive and oozes glamour – which is exactly what you want for a hot date. While red is known to convey passion, lust and danger, it’s also a timeless classic when it comes to beauty. Team this Guerlain polish with a matching red lip, your best LBD and some killer heels – he or she will be putty in your hands!

Christmas Party Binky London Metallic Nail Lacquer in Richmond Red, plus Fulham Frost Top Coat I am SO excited about Christmas – only 3 weeks to go! I’ve of course already been planning my Christmas party beauty looks, and can tell these festive shades are going to be firm favourites in my Chrimbo beauty kit. Tip: apply a generous layer of the Fulham Frost top coat over white nail polish for a glam winter look.

Wedding Binky London Gel Effect Nail Lacquer in Paris Pearl When you need to look smart for a special occasion like a wedding or christening, a nude or sheer peach nail is foolproof. It won’t look cheap or tacky, clash with your outfit or entice disapproving looks from your dowdy great-aunt. Apply this top coat over a light peachy shade of polish, or simply wear it alone. It provides a gorgeous sheer wash of colour for a polished and pretty look.

Sunny Holiday Binky London Gel Effect Nail Lacquer in Chelsea Coral If you’re lucky enough to be jetting off to sunnier climes this winter, gel polishes are an essential. My Chelsea Coral polish has a long-lasting, gel-finish formula that will ensure your polish stays chip-free for up to 10 days! It’s the perfect holiday shade to take you from sunbathingby the pool to hitting the clubs after dark. Now, to book my plane tickets…
