6 Best Tinted Lip Balms That Actually Nourish Lips
Share
As things are starting to open up again and life starts to ease back into a sense of normality, you might feel just like me and want to return to the world with a pop of colour. However, lockdown has definitely taught me to not only love my natural skin, but to also look after it as best I can. That’s why I’ve combined these two things in this edit; vivid colour that makes a statement with nourishment and moisture. Yep, you guessed it – these are my favourite tinted lip balms that I think you’ll love. They’ll add the perfect lick of colour to your outfit and makeup look while keeping your lips feeling smooth, plump and nourished.
Read on to find out which bold lip balms I’ve been loving….
1. The Everyday Lip Balm
Shade: Coral.
The Vichy Naturalblend lip balm is a favourite of both mine and Kate’s – I’m a big fan of the Nude shade too, but if you want the perfect spring lip then I think Coral is the perfect choice! I love the rich orange shade, while the nourishing formula itself is made with 96% natural ingredients, including Vichy’s iconic volcanic water to strengthen the delicate skin while infusing it with 15 essential minerals.
The creamy balm is also packed with softening coconut butter, protective beeswax and a replenishing oil blend; this moisturising trio is designed to keep lips ultra-hydrated and intensely nourished. It’s one I like to stock up on every French Pharmacy sale as it’s such a bargain, and one you’ll want to keep in every handbag!
It’s also sensitive-skin approved as it’s hypoallergenic; the comfortable balm stick is non-greasy and isn’t sticky either, so it’s comfortable to wear beneath a mask.
2. The SPF Lip Balm
Shade: Plum.
What makes the Elizabeth Arden Sheer Lip Tint special is that it offers SPF 15 protection to defend your lips against the damaging effects of the sun’s rays. We all know how important it is to wear SPF on our face, but our pout can sometimes get forgotten about. The truth is, it’s just as important to keep your lips protected too, which is where this one comes into its own. The colour is subtle yet still rich and long-lasting, while the moisturising formula itself offers 8 hours of hydration. This is one that’s been designed to help you face all weathers with a plump and moisturised pout, while the lipstick design adds a touch more glamour than your typical lip balm might.
3. The Luxurious Lip Balm
Shade: Rose Rendez-Vous.
The Lancome L’Absolu Rouge Hydrating & Shaping Lipcolour is a luxurious choice that will up your skincare and makeup game by replenishing your lips and dousing them in rich, vibrant colour. This balm has a technological formula at its heart as it contains moisture-boosting Pro-Xylane™, which restores moisture and comfort to sore, chapped and dry lips. Plus, a dose of vitamin E fends off environmental damage to keep your lips looking and feeling their best. The pampering colour pay-off is rich and brightening; it makes your lips look noticeably fuller and accentuates your features for a luminous and elegant effect.
Plus, I love the design of this Lancome lip balm. The elegant combination of black and gold just exudes luxury, while the Lancome rose is actually a push-button in disguise, which releases the lipstick for use. Innovative, stylish and fun!
4. The Glossy Lip Balm
Shade: Hibiscus.
The Shiseido ColorGel LipBalm is the ideal hybrid between a lip gloss and a lip balm; it has such a lightweight and unique formula that melds seamlessly with your lips for a delicate yet vibrant wash of semi-sheer colour. It envelops your pout in hydration that’s not sticky or greasy, but rather coats them in comfortable nourishment. Trust me; the varied selection of colours will add a healthy glow to your lips, whatever shade takes your fancy.
I’ve chosen the shade Hibiscus because I love the pretty pink tint it gives – natural yet still flushed and flirty. Wisteria and Tiger Lily are another two favourites – to be honest, I would wear them all!
What I love the most about this one (apart from the glorious shiny sheen of colour it provides) is that the ColorGel actually improves the health and condition of your lips over time. The unique melting formula actually contains patented humectant technology, which binds in moisture to lips to keep them feeling plump, soft and pouty.
5. The Bold Lip Balm
Shade: Courage.
Okay, maybe I’m bending the rules a little bit here as the bareMinerals Mineralist lipstick technically isn’t a lip balm, but with such a nourishing and hydrating formula, you’d be forgiven for mistaking it for one! And of course, the bold colour lasts long into the night, which is just an added bonus!
I love the Mineralist lipstick range (I’m a big fan of bareMinerals’ eco-conscious approach to beauty in general) and this lipstick just sums up why. It’s infused with minerals and made with just 19 ingredients (which is 40% less than top-selling lipsticks!) and has a 76% natural origin formula. A truly nourishing cocktail of sea buckthorn fruit oil, olive oil and pomegranate extract blend together to give your lips the moisture boost they’ve been thirsting for. Lips feel noticeably less dry, and I love that the colour doesn’t run or bleed, but keeps your pout looking plump, soft and smooth.
Another bonus? The smell! It’s got a sweet prickly pear and acai aroma that’s almost good enough to eat, while the wardrobe of shades will ensure you’ve got the perfect lip companion no matter the occasion. I’m wearing Courage here, which I love for its bright orange-toned red hue, but Honesty is my favourite natural-yet-blushed pink shade that’s ideal for day-to-day wear.
6. The New Tinted Lip Balm
Shade: Ruby.
This is a brand new offering from Benefit that I was really excited about! The California Kissin’ Lip Balm is the ideal blend of nourishment and colour; it’s available in a vast array of vivid shades that provides a vibrant lick of colour for up to eight hours. The creamy lip balm simply glides over your lips and keeps moisture locked in, thanks to plumping and hydrating hyaluronic acid.
Plus, I love the scent of this lip balm; it has a sweet and fruity aroma that comes from the inclusion of moisture-rich mango butter, with softens, soothes and nourishes your lips. It’s incredibly lightweight too, despite being so creamy, and the pigmented colour pay-off is really something! It works like a lipstick to dress your pout in a shiny veil of colour with all of the nourishing benefits of a lip balm, what more could you ask for from a tinted balm?
