Best Hair Masks for All Hair Types

Why You Need A Hair Mask

Is silky, soft hair something you long for but you just haven’t got enough time to invest in it? I know the feeling, and after quizzing my girls in our WhatsApp group, we’re definitely not alone.

Subsequent to years of being lazy with my hair care routine and regardless of countless telling-off from my hairdresser (it’s bad, I have porous hair and I use bleach), it’s finally hit me; an everyday shampoo and conditioner routine just won’t do.

Hair is having a moment, and after researching and testing, I’ve found that the easiest way to get in on the action is via hair masks. Long live the days of swishy, bouncy and beautiful strands, because even if you have no time, I have something your hair will thank you for later…

Why You Should Use A Hair Mask?

1) They infuse your hair with lost moisture and rebuild the hair shaft for a smoother finish.
2) Hair masks double up as the perfect detanglers.
3) Hair packs help to prevent frizz.
4) Your blow dry will look sleeker and last longer.

For some, good hair comes naturally, but for many of us, the daily stresses and strains of heat styling, UV rays and brushing can often interfere. The result? Frazzled ends and a not-so-sleek finish that can only be hidden in a chignon. C’mon guys, we’re better than that…

#1 The Busy Girl’s Saviour

Bumble and bumble While You Sleep Overnight Damage Repair Masque Texture and Product Shot

If time is of the essence, try the Bumble and bumble While You Sleep Overnight Damage Repair Masque.

It’s as if Bumble and bumble knew what I was thinking with this restoring mask. A weekly treat for all, this overnight hair mask doesn’t feel gloopy or heavy. It’s lightweight but still silky-soft. Replete with evening primrose oil, a weighty omega-6 fatty acid, this deep conditioner does all of the hard work whilst you sleep – plus you haven’t got to worry about it ruining your pillows – those who know, know.

To get the most of this mask, make sure you comb the product through your hair, then take an old pair of tights and cut them to fit as a hair net would, this will help increase absorption of the mask for deeper penetration.

#2 The Curl Crafter

Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse Riche Multi-Purpose Nourishing Oil Spray - Face, Body and Hair Texture

If you have curly hair, use the Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse Riche as a hair mask.

After chatting with my girls with curls, I know a hair mask for curly hair seems more of a struggle than it’s worth. I’ve heard about the concerns of masks weighing your curls down, and the potential sticky or overdone feeling some can give. I’ve also heard that some avoid conditioner entirely. I’ve got an alternative approach to this recommendation, and it involves a hot oil treatment mask.
Tried and tested by our Nikki from our customer service team, we believe we’ve found your new curl kryptonite: Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse Riche. Not only does it nourish and tame hair, its moisture-rich oil softens unruly strands, whilst smelling incredible!

To create the hot oil treatment, wash your hair then place your Nuxe bottle in warm water. Wait till it heats, then massage the oil into your scalp and hair, wrap in a hot towel and leave for as long as you desire (10-20minutes). Rinse thoroughly.

#3 The Breakage Banisher

Rene Furterer Absolue Keratine Ultimate Renewal Mask Product and Texture Image

If you have damaged or brittle hair, use Rene Furterer Absolue Keratine Ultimate Renewal Mask.

This one is a firm favourite of mine. As much as I say I have no time, I always make time for this mask as it’s SO satisfying to apply. Super creamy and indulgent, I love slathering this on, making a cuppa and getting lost on the Instagram discover page (an easy way to kill 10 minutes… or in my case 30). The difference with this mask is the addition of plant-based keratin from soybeans and biocymentine, together these work to restructure the hair follicle for extra reinforcement, making it easy to say so-long to snapping!

Want to get the most out of your mask? After you’ve applied the treatment, wrap your hair in a warm towel; the heat softens the cuticles of your hair, allowing the mask to penetrate deeper. Rinse out after the recommended leave-in time on the packaging.

#4 The Colour Bodyguard
Schwarzkopf Professional Fibreplex Bond Maintainer Texture Swatch

If you have coloured or colour treated hair, Schwarzkopf Professional Fibreplex Bond Maintainer will transform the vibrancy of your hair.

Calling all redheads, brunettes and bleached blondes! You may think your hair washing routine has you covered, but think again. Every wash is essentially fading your colour, that’s why you need a colour-sealing treatment that’s not only going to lock pigment in for longer, it’s also going to smooth, soften and enhance the sleekness of each strand. I’m calling it. Fibreplex is the next best thing. I love the Bond Maintainer because it does just that and more. How does it work? Its rejuvenating cream creates new bonds in your hair, thus re-balancing pH levels to keep your colour more vibrant for longer.

To get the most out of your colour-enhancing hair mask, if you can, allow your hair to air dry or make sure to blow dry your hair with the lowest setting. This will help lock in your colour for longer and improve shine.

Plus, its moisture-infused treatment works deep down to manually repair broken fibres in your hair, decreasing the formation of split ends and increasing your swish game tenfold.

To get the most out of your mask, apply the mask to dry hair for 30 minutes before shampooing, then rinse.
