The Beauty Team's May Favourites

May Favourites Banner

Oh, May. The month that brings us tantalisingly close to the dreamy days of summer… albeit with a little bit of rain thrown into the mix, just to keep us on our toes. Our May favourites have been just as changeable, blending lots of exciting newness in with a couple of dependable, can’t-live-without classics that always pull us through.

With DHA-free tanners, new generation masks, plus the reinvention of an iconic product or two, there’s been some amazing innovation this month – and we can’t wait to share them with you. Here’s what’s been rocking our world…

I’ve well and truly kicked my summer prep into gear this month. The first step in my mission? Achieving a really natural, low maintenance summer glow, and I’ve managed to find some seriously impressive products that are ticking all of the right boxes. Add to that some ultra swishy, soft and smooth hair, and I’m pretty much in beauty nirvana with my May favourites.

The New…
Guerlain Terracotta Pause d’Ete Bronzing Powder Duo
I just love limited edition beauty. There’s something so satisfying about owning a limited run of something, especially when it’s inspired by an icon – which just so happens to be exactly what Terracotta Pause d’Ete is! For summer 2016, Guerlain have transformed their classic Terracotta bronzer with a brand new pattern and a touch of peachy pink blush for added freshness. This beautifully scented, versatile travel companion will see you through summer parties, holidays, the festival season… and beyond!

Hylamide Glow Radiance Booster
Ceryn gave this a thorough run-through last month, and the results were so perfectly golden that I couldn’t resist treating myself. The Hylamide Radiance Booster is the DHA-free self tanner that you never knew you needed (a little more on the DHA debate here), working to give skin the most gradual and natural glow that is the epitome of healthy-looking. I’m not a habitual self tanner – I don’t have the patience for uneven fading – so popping a few drops of this into my normal moisturiser is an ideal fit for me.

… and The Classic
Schwarzkopf BC Bonacure Repair Rescue Treatment Masque
This is my secret weapon for dry and damaged hair. I’ve recommended it countless times, and I’ve yet to hear a dud review. Honestly. The Repair Rescue Treatment Masque came to my aid yet again recently, as around the same time that my skin started to become ultra fragile, so too did my hair. This intensely moisturising treatment transformed the quality of my hair – I could actually run my fingers through the ends again. It’s an all-time favourite.

This month I’ve taken a more mature approach to my beauty routine (for a change), focusing on elegant additions that give me an effortless edge without trying too hard. In line with a lot of our lovely customers, this month’s favourites consist of a chic and sophisticated array of the best loved beauty.

The New…
Narciso Rodriguez Narciso Eau de Parfum Spray Poudrée
I don’t know about you, but there isn’t a Narciso fragrance that I haven’t become obsessed with. So when the new Poudree sauntered into HQ, I just knew it had my name written all over it. And, wowzas, I am in awe! Powdery elegance at its finest, there’s something extremely empowering about a sassy scent that begs the question, ‘what are you wearing?’

GIVENCHY Mister Brow Groom – Universal Brow Setter
My brows are my everything, and when they’re not looking their best, I don’t feel my best. Leaving the house at 7:30am, speedy service is what I need, and the new GIVENCHY Mister Brow Groom Universal Brow Setter has answered all of my framing needs. The clue is in the name; its tapered brush grooms and sets my brows in place perfectly. Goodbye scraggly ends, hello more time in the morning.

…And The Classic
DHC Velvet Coat Primer
Primers have always been a bit of a taboo for me… well, that’s until I met the DHC Velvet Skin Coat. I always used to get caught out with flaky areas and un-even texture, but it’s as if this nifty primer has listened to all of concerns and finally provided me with the base that I deserve. Mattifying, moisturising and exceptionally hardworking, its £17 price point is perfect for those looking to try a game-changing primer that actually helps with makeup longevity.

Ceryn's Picks - May Favourites

Ceryn

May for me was all about discovery. I discovered three products that have completely changed my approach toward beauty and have made my routine easier and far more effective in so many ways. Going in to June my skin is clearer, better protected from the sun and my eyelashes look better than ever!

The New…
NIOD Flavanone Mud
It’s no secret that I’m a bit of a skincare junkie and usually it’s difficult for me to find a product that’s unlike anything that’s already in my beauty drawers. That was until the NIOD Flavanone Mud turned up! This mask works way harder than your ordinary mud mask, helping purify and decongest skin both instantly and overtime. Now that I have this I’d give up my other masks in a heartbeat!

Bioderma Hydrabio Eau de Soin Anti-UV Mist SPF30
Applying sunscreen isn’t one of my favourite tasks; it can be messy and pretty tedious and thus I’m always on the lookout for products to make my suncare routine quicker and easier. Queue the Bioderma Hydrabio Eau de Soin Anti-UV Mist SPF30, a product that has not left my handbag ever since its release earlier this month. A rehydrating mist packed with protection, it’s a skincare/suncare hybrid everyone should own.

…And The Classic
Shiseido Eyelash Curlers
Even though I’ve heard people say time and time again that eyelash curlers make the world of difference I never took action and bought myself a pair. This month that all changed and I treated myself to the Shiseido Eyelash Curlers – and it’s safe to say I am never looking back. Now a staple in my beauty routine, the curlers make my eyes appear more open and completely change the way my makeup look turns out.

Over to you!
