Beauty on a Budget

Funds running low after Christmas? No need to curtail that beauty habit, as there are plenty of amazing products out there that won’t break the bank.

This week, I’ve selected the best of the best – each with a price tag that is an affordable £10 or under…

1. Nuxe Rêve de Miel Honey Lip Balm, £9.50
This rich, highly moisturising lip balm is one of my all-time favourite beauty products, instantly smoothing, softening, and soothing lips. The perfect (and affordable) way to introduce yourself to the top French skincare brand.

2. Tigi S-Factor Smoothing Shampoo, £8.35, and Smoothing Conditioner, £9.25
If you are used to picking up your shampoo and conditioner from supermarket shelves, I recommend stepping your haircare routine up a gear in 2012 by acquainting yourself with Tigi S-Factor. The products don’t cost much more than your average high street brand, yet the difference in hair condition will be dramatic. Revive dull, dry locks with this affordable duo.

3. Nailgirls Colour Nail Varnish, £5.25 each
Finally, I love nothing more than brightening up dark winter outfits with a bright nail polish in January – and for price, quality, and colour selection, it’s hard to beat Nailgirls. To be bang on trend, I recommend picking Coral 2, Green 5, or Purple 5.

4. Nesti Dante Il Frutteto Olive Oil and Tangerine Soap, £3.95
Soap had a revival in 2011 – and this pocket money bar is the perfect way to rediscover the joys of a quick lather. With beautiful packaging and a formula that contains Olive Oil and Florentine Tangerine, it will certainly cheer up on cold, dark January mornings.

5. Stila Collectable Beach Palettes, £10 each
When it comes to makeup, there’s a lot you can buy for £10 – but very rarely does the budget stretch to a full palette. These Stila palettes not only come from a highly respected premium brand, but the contents are versatile and long lasting.

6. Tisserand Essential Oil Rich Relaxing Bath Soak, £7.25
Packed with essential oils (a blend of Lavender, Petitgrain, Yarrow and Camomile), this indulgent bath soak is luxurious, warming, and very high quality. In my opinion, it’s as good as products with three times the price tag.

7. Crabtree & Evelyn La Source Hand Therapy Cream, £6.90
A combination of extreme weather and central heating can leave our hands prone to dryness in the colder months – and this tube of hand cream will make a big difference. Packed with Shea Butter to soften and Hyaluronic Acid to retain moisture, it’s worth far more than its £6.90 price tag.

8. Tigi Catwalk Your Highness Weightless Shine Spray, £7.25
Hair can look dull, flat, and lifeless after a month of styling for Christmas parties – but this affordable, yet very effective shine spray will instantly perk it up. This product has pride of place on my dressing table.

Happy shopping!
