Share
Here at Escentual, we’re always trying the latest new beauty, fragrance and skincare, and as much as we love trying every new launch – and trust us, that’s a lot – we also love it when we reach the end of a product. To us, there’s no better way of showing just how much we love using it!
So, read on to find out what products the Escentual Beauty Team have recently squeezed every last drop out of – and of course, find out the answer to the all important question of whether we will be rebuying…

Product Pick: Vichy Mineral 89 Serum
Why did you buy this product? I’ve been using Mineral 89 on and off since it launched back in 2017. Its ability to strengthen the skin barrier and its plumping benefits are what first drew me in.
What did you love about this product? Mineral 89 is one of those serums you don’t know you need until you go a couple of days without it. I love the fact it feels invisible, but its 11 ingredients work like crazy in the background to keep skin plump and protected.
Will you be repurchasing it (or do you have your eye on something else next?) Since finishing Mineral 89, I’ve moved on to the new LiftActiv Filler. I’m 30 now, so I need a higher dose of hyaluronic acid. If I’m honest, I personally see better results with this serum, particularly when it comes to my dehydration lines. I also prefer the thicker texture of this serum as I have naturally dry skin.
What will you do with the empty? I’ve recycled the glass bottle and plastic pump.

Product Pick: Avene Cleanance Sunscreen Very High Protection Tinted SPF50+
Why did you buy this product? This is a case where I didn’t know I needed this until I’d tried it. I was sent it, tried it and instantly fell in love with it!
What did you love about this product? I love how easy this SPF makes my life. Over the past year, I’ve stripped my beauty routine right back and have spent much less time getting ready in the morning. The Cleanance Tinted SPF50+ combines two steps (base coverage and sun protection) to save me time, but it doesn’t make me compromise on either step. The coverage is excellent (don’t let the word ‘tinted’ fool you), the texture is creamy and blends beautifully into my dry skin, and it offers very high broad-spectrum sun protection. It’s the complete package!
Will you be repurchasing it (or do you have your eye on something else next?) I already have another one on the way!
What will you do with the empty? Recycle it, 100%!

Product Pick: Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel
Why did you buy this product? This was one I was luckily gifted by Escentual and Dermalogica as our Merchandising Manager organised staff care packages during lockdown.
What did you love about this product? Of course, I love how quickly and easily this soft liquid gel removed everything from daily impurities to leftover SPF (it lathers really easily to cover your whole complexion), but I must admit that the main thing I loved about this cleanser was just how fresh, clean and glowy I looked after! It gave a new meaning to my ‘fresh-faced’ look.
I also love how gentle and mild the cleanser is, too. I never struggled with feelings of irritation or sensitivity with the Special Cleansing Gel, but I still felt like it did a good job of purifying my oilier, spot-prone areas on my chin.
Will you be repurchasing it (or do you have your eye on something else next?) As much as I loved this cleanser, I have been trying to go through and use up lots of half-used cleansers I have lying about the place (yes, I’m one of those people who is always too excited to try something new and ends up with far too many products on the go at one time!) But once I’ve finished making my way through my backlog, I’d love to return to this cleanser.
What will you do with the empty? I’ve got a cactus plant in my room that only ever needs the tiniest bit of water every few months (yes, I killed a previous cactus, but I’m slowly trying to improve my gardening skills). As the 50ml version of this gel is held in a small bottle with a slim dispenser top, I’m going to use it as a makeshift watering can to control how much water I use (holding the cactus under the tap was the reason behind my last cacti victim!)

Product Pick: Uriage Extra-Rich Dermatological Cleansing Gel
Why did you buy this product? I first discovered this shower gel when I did the brand rewrite for Uriage – I was sold by just how multipurpose it was, and the fact it’s hypoallergenic. My partner has eczema-prone skin, so I wanted something that would be gentle on his skin, and it’s fair to say that we both love using it.
What did you love about this product? Everything! It’s an all-in-one soap-free cleansing gel that can be used to wash your body, face and hair. It’s super gentle as it’s packed with naturally soothing Uriage thermal water and has a pH balance similar to the skin’s own. I love how the lightweight fluid gel effortlessly caresses your skin with its lightweight foam, while the fresh and aquatic scent is a refreshing treat. Plus, the pump feature makes it incredibly easy to use in the shower!
Will you be repurchasing it (or do you have your eye on something else next?) I’m very loyal to this cleansing gel; I always stock up on it during our French Pharmacy month, so I already have another one ready to go!
What will you do with the empty? Before Covid, I used to go to refill shops to try and cut down on my single-use plastic. Now that things have started opening again, I’m going to hold on to this bottle to take with me and refill it with something like a hand soap or washing up liquid. The pump bottle is perfect for repurposing!

Product Pick: Embryolisse Lait-Creme Concentre
Why did you buy this product? You know when you have that skincare product you just can’t bear to finish? Embryolisse Lait-Creme Concentre is that one for me! I’m on my fifth tube now. I’ve squeezed and crumpled it until I got every last morsel of moisturiser out (as you can see from the picture above) because, yes, it’s just that good!
What did you love about this product? I know I’m not the only die-hard fan of this moisturiser; it’s a cult product that’s adored by so many beauty lovers worldwide, and runway models alike. I can see why; with a rich shea butter and hyaluronic-infused cream texture, there’s no shortage of moisture here. It even has multiple uses that include: a face mask, a moisturiser, a primer, a calming skin treatment and a makeup remover.
Will you be repurchasing it (or do you have your eye on something else next?) It’s safe to say that I consider this a staple, which means it’s just that much sadder when it comes to an end. But of course, I’ll buy it again. Onto my sixth tube I go; the cycle continues!
What will you do with the empty? Recycle it!
