Beauty Team Empties: Meet The Products We Finished In February

Beauty empties March 2021: Bioderma Hydrabio H2O - Micelle Solution

A perk of working in beauty is that we get to try all the newest launches from affordable to high-end brands, but the one issue? We’re great at starting new products, but not so good at finishing them. Don’t get us wrong, we’re not complaining; we just want you to understand that when we’ve squeezed and shaken every last bit of product out and we’re left wanting more – it’s a big deal.

As I said, empties, for the Escentual beauty team are few and far between, so we thought we’d give this special moment the spotlight it deserves. So, we’re releasing a monthly edit to celebrate our beauty empties, here they are from March…

1. The Cleansing Essential

Beauty empties March 2021: Bioderma Hydrabio H2O - Micelle Solution

Why did you buy this product?

I like to incorporate micellar water in my skincare routine as it’s super handy as a first cleanse or to have on hand to rub off any leftover makeup or smudging mishaps; it’s basically essential.

I’ve been using the Micellar Water from the Sensibio H20 water (made for sensitive skin) but found that even though my skin is sensitive and I enjoyed using it, it wasn’t giving my naturally dry skin the hydration it needed. So, I thought I’d swap it out for their Hydrabio version (made for dehydrated skin); it was a good decision! The Hydrabio is better suited to my skin.

What did you love about this product?

That it’s a staple I can rely on, and that it doesn’t dry out my skin while removing excess makeup, oil and impurities.

Will you be repurchasing it or do you have your eye on something else next?

I have a spare two on standby, ready to crack open!

2. The Makeup Remover For Irritated Eyes

Beauty empties March 2021: La Roche-Posay Respectissime Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover

Why did you buy this product?

I’ve bought this eye makeup remover for a couple of years. The first time I purchased it, I picked it up because it was new (I’m a sucker for a newness), and I was looking for a more gentle way to remove my eye makeup.

What did you love about this product?

I love mascara and eyeshadow, but I hate taking them off. It’s messy and often irritates the eyes, especially sensitive ones like mine if you’re not using a good formula. But Respectissime is that ‘good formula’. The bi-phase eye makeup remover is made for delicate eyes and contact lens wearers (like me again) and breaks down stubborn mascara and eyeliner but in a gentle way. My cleansing routine wouldn’t be the same without it; it makes the entire process quick and easy. I saturate a cotton pad or flannel in the formula, press it over my eyes, and sweep – it’s like magic.

Will you be repurchasing it or do you have your eye on something else next?

Repurchase. 100%. I haven’t tried another eye makeup remover quite like this one – no stinging or irritation – ever.

3. The Naturally Radiant Base

Beauty empties March 2021: Shiseido Synchro Skin Self-Refreshing Foundation SPF30

Why did you buy this product?

I’ve always been a fan of Synchro Skin, I’ve got the various versions in my collection since the franchise launched about 4 years ago now.

What did you love about this product?

The coverage, the colour and the finish. It lasts much longer on my skin than most foundations do, and that’s down to it’s cool ‘adapting’ technology called Active Force technology (trademarked). It basically balances humidity and oils to keep your base looking fresh, as if it’s just been applied. I don’t know any other foundation on the market than can do that.

Will you be repurchasing it or do you have your eye on something else next?

I’m trying the new Shiseido Synchro Skin Radiant Lifting Foundation SPF30 instead! So far, so good, it’s dewier, but not shiny, it’s a matte healthy glow, that could persuade me to sway!
