One-fifth of 4711’s Floral Collection launched in 2019; Rose Original Eau de Cologne shows the perfumer’s incredible ability to create scents that are both timeless and modern.
What Does It Smell Like:
Rose Original Eau de Cologne is a bouquet of roses on Valentine’s Day displayed on the outdoor table of a balcony next to a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice.
This typically feminine fragrance is an amalgamation of sweet and citrusy notes paired with warm woods and velvety musk. A fresh, zesty floral number, Rose Original Eau de Cologne is 4711’s unique take on the classic rose fragrance.
Vibrant mandarin and bergamot open the scent which is rounded off with warming green tea. Taking centre stage is a bright bouquet of rose, cyclamen and freesia, whilst base notes of cosy sandalwood and sensual musk finish off the scent.

Rose Original Eau de Cologne’s Longevity…
Although Rose Original is an Eau de Cologne, so is expected to last up to 3 hours on the skin, it has an incredible ability to last much longer than that. It certainly took me by surprise when I could still smell a toned-down version of it on my t-shirt at the end of the day after spraying it in the morning.
The silage of the scent is rated weak-moderate on Fragrantica, but when I tested it here in the office, the romantic scent was smelt from over an arm’s length away.
Rose Original Eau de Cologne Wears Well During…
I would say this scent is perfect for daytime wear due to its citrusy floral notes. Cosy notes of sandalwood and musk give the scent some depth that help to tone it down as time goes on.

The glass bottle containing the fragrance is consistent with the rest of the 4711 floral collection. The iconic Molanus design – which has remained virtually unchanged since 1820 – is wrapped in vintage, gold imagery that gives it that antique and expensive look.

My Overall Experience
I really like this perfume and could envision myself wearing it on dates with my other half and when I’m looking for a zesty, floral scent in the summer. I love the history behind 4711 as a brand, having been perfumers for over 200 years. The bottles are like mini antique gin bottles that would look so cute in my bathroom.
