Pick & Mix Beauty Questions #2.. gh0stparties

I’m Kate, I run gh0stparties.com which is where I blog about beauty and fashion, with snippets of my life thrown in. I started my blog around eight months ago, and it quickly took off. Typical posts on my blog include beauty reviews, recent purchases, wishlists and outfit posts.

1. If you could invent one beauty/grooming product, what would it be?
I’d invent eyeliner transfers, I’m so bad at doing eyeliner flicks so I would invent a kind of transfer or stencil that you could use to do the perfect catflick! Hmm… now I’ve written this I have realised what an amazing idea this is…

2. Who is your beauty inspiration?
I love Blake Lively, she has a fresh, glowing look. I also love Adele, who has such a classic look, I would love to be able to eyeliner like she does. They’re both gorgeous girls who look incredible without makeup too!

3. What is the most envy-inducing product in your makeup bag?
Probably my Topshop Highlighter in Sunbeam, I get asked about it daily but unfortunately I think it’s sold out now!

4. Which products do you keep coming back to?
I love L’oreal Touche Magique concealer, I have tried others but I always end up repurchasing this. And Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser, there’s nothing else quite like it!

5. Are you a one brand gal/guy, or do you like to switch it up?
Switch it up! My bathroom is covered in all sorts of bottles, I know I should probably stick to a routine but I love trying new products and rediscovering ones I’d forgotten.

6. What is your everyday makeup routine?
I apply my foundation first, using a Sigma Flat Top Kabuki Brush (I highly recommend!) and then apply a touch of concealer to any blemishes and YSLs Touche Eclat to my under eye area. Next I apply my blusher (I try and wear a different blusher each day, but I do like NARS Orgasm powder blush and MAC blushers such as Melba, Dainty and Springsheen) using a Topshop Blusher blush. I use the same brush to lightly apply my Topshop Highlighter in Sunbeam, which is one of my favourite ever products! I lightly powder my T-Zone with MAC MSF Natural in light/medium.
I then use Benefit Brow Zings and an ELF Small Angled Brush to shape and fill my eyebrows, before using a Rimmel liquid eyeliner on my top eyelids and finish with Smashbox Full Exposure mascara.

I will often put on a bit of tinted lipbalm or a MAC lipstick if I’m heading out.

7. Are there any products you wish you could wear, but feel you can’t pull off?
Smokey eyes! They look so small and harsh with lots of dark eyeliner. This is a look I’ve always tried to pull off and it’s never suited me!

8. If you had your own beauty brand, what would your mission statement be?
I love the idea of fresh, natural cosmetics. Rather than covering your skin without full coverage foundation, concentrate on getting your skin beautiful so you don’t need such heavy foundation. I don’t think you should feel like you have to hide under your makeup, so I’d want to make products which reveal you, only with accentuated features! A lovely natural skincare range would also be lovely, something along the lines of Liz Earle.

9. Give us an indispensible beauty tip!
Wash your brushes regularly using baby shampoo and warm water, and dry on a windowsill. It will make all the difference!

10. What is the best beauty gift you’ve ever been given?
There’s so many to choose from! Everyone that knows me knows I love makeup, so I often get nice presents. My boyfriend is good at getting me boxes of MAC products in the MAC giftbox as well as Chanel and Viktor & Rolf perfumes.
